Future Challenges,
Vision, Goal and Strategy:
For first few years, we were a company of 10
workers, covering only 5 crops and operating
in one or two regions of the country and had
Strategy very limited research facilities.
Today, we are a strong group of about 70
people, covering 25 crops, operating all
over the country and even overseas. Research
facilities are far more extended, volume of
business is up by many folds.
Considering the above achievements and
strides made by the organisiation, one may
feel quite accomplished but there are much
greater challenges and therefore, no reason
to be complacent.
1. Global Warming
The global warming is posing a great threat
even to the plant domain. The existing
cultivars, in the present composition, may
not stand the high temperatures and other
abiotic stresses. Therefore, the plant
architecture would require restructuring and
new idio-types have to be evolved.
2. New pathogens with more destructive
and virulent forms, new races and alarming
insect damage:
Sources of resistance to be explored even in
distant and wild relatives.
3. Conditions of higher degree of
salinity and drought:
These challenges have to be met with by
formulating a vibrant strategy with a long
term vision. New era research facilities,
the state-of-the-art, mobilizing cutting
edge science and biotechnological
applications have to be put in place.
To have global presence, efforts are on to
look for strategic joint venture partners.
