Research &
Development:
Mr. Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Director, is chief
of our R&D division. Our main research
station and other facilities are located in
Ludhiana. The supporting stations are in the
states of Himanchal Pradesh and Karnataka.
In every respect, may it be for agri-climatic
conditions or regional consumer preferences,
India is very diverse. To meet these
requirements plus to combine all the
desirable traits like higher yield, disease
resistance, wider adaptability, longer shelf
life and better appeal (size, shape, colour,
taste) the mandate to our breeders is very
demanding. With our moderate resources, our
breeders have done a commendable job by
following the conventional methods of
breeding and very skillfully combining the
modern technology with it. After the
development of the product, a very rigorous
testing regime is followed under different
agro-climatic conditions. We make sure that
our products excel and are able to absorb
the fluctuations, abiotic stresses and other
abuses e.g physiological disorders.
Our breeders are also conscious of the
economics of seed production. The mechanism
of self-incompatibility and CMS system has
been transferred into most of our Brassica
group of vegetables and fully exploited to
achieve higher seed yield, most economically
and efficiently.
National Recognition Granted to research
and R&D:
On the strength of our extended research
facilities, the quality of
infra-structure, Department of Science &
Technology, Government of India has
recognized our Research Centre vide their
registration no TU/IV-RD/2510/2007.
Seed Processing, Seed Health, Seed
Quality:
We have well laid out assembly line of
equipments and and machines for
cleaning, grading, sizing and packing. All
of our seed lots are duly tested for
physical and genetic purity. It must meet
the high standards of germination, vigour
and seed health. |
